Spectra watches your phone's motion, magnetic-heading, audio, and light sensors, and flags the moments when several of them spike together, outside a baseline it calibrates on the spot. It does not claim to detect ghosts — no sensor can be pointed at that question, so we don't pretend one does.
Spectra reports statistical anomalies in ordinary sensor data — nothing else. It cannot confirm or rule out spirits, hauntings, or any paranormal phenomenon, because no physical sensor is scientifically established to respond to one. Every logged event has a mundane explanation until you determine otherwise. Full detail in the disclaimer.
Every session opens with a 20-second still, quiet baseline. Spectra records the mean and variance of each sensor at rest in your specific location — not a factory default.
Each new reading is scored against that baseline as a z-score. You set the threshold; a higher bar means fewer, more confident flags.
A single sensor spiking is noise — a door, a truck, a pocket bump. Spectra only logs an event when two or more independent sensors spike inside the same short window.
No. There is no known physical signal a spirit or paranormal entity produces, so no sensor — here or anywhere — can be built to detect one. Spectra detects correlated deviations in motion, magnetic, audio, and light sensors. What caused any given deviation is for you to investigate.
If you already do paranormal investigation, environmental monitoring, or just want a rigorous way to notice "something changed in this room" — Spectra gives you a timestamped, multi-sensor record instead of a single blinking light with no way to check itself.
A single-sensor EMF meter reports every fluctuation, including ones caused by your own phone, wiring, or appliances — with no way to tell those apart. Spectra requires two or more independent sensors to move together before it logs anything, which filters out most single-cause noise.
Sensor readings and baselines are computed in your browser and never transmitted. Exported session files save to your own device. See the Privacy Policy for full detail.
Yes. Spectra is a Progressive Web App — open it once, tap "Install," and it runs from your home screen with an offline-capable shell, no app store required.
